GenText™ PROFESSIONALS

ProForm U® offers individually tailored mentoring in Atlanta, Georgia, New York City and remotely via Skype.  We teach GenText® how to tell a good story — their story or point of view.

Whether you are seeking admissions, a job or internship, higher salary or to raise your professional profile, essential components of the process include conversation, resume, interview, negotiation and conflict management. ProForm U offers services through one-on-one and group mentoring. Our programs are based on Elaine Rosenblum’s experience as an educator, negotiation expert and corporate veteran.

No matter if you’re a Baby Boomer, Millennial or Gen X, Y or Z, we are all members of GenText®–the generation that shifted from talking to texting.  Text abbreviation and emoticons dull our words. Well-articulated speech and points of view require intentional practice.

Social, educational and professional arenas have unique vocabularies. Conversational mentoring teaches budding and seasoned professionals the vocab and art of face-to-face and ear-to-ear fluency. Group mentoring and speaking engagements are also available.

Skill Mastery

  • Lead conversation with appropriate greetings, welcoming tone and non-confrontational questions
  • Employ eye contact to connote respect
  • Speak to others in terms of their reference points
  • Actively listen and respond with empathy
  • Steer conversation using a directional map
  • Pace and rephrase to assure mutual understanding
  • Use words and tenses properly
  • Learn industry specific “buzz terms”
  • Articulate with specificity
  • Frame points of view using logic and in consideration of others

For all members of GenText®–from students to seasoned executives–resume writing is uncomfortable. Resume mentoring leverages a deep expertise in educational and organizational infrastructure. It teases out underestimated achievements, identifies unrealized professional skills and makes resume building empowering and far easier. Group mentoring and speaking engagements are also available.

Skill Mastery

  • Identify underestimated and transferable skills while understanding their value to potential employers
  • Brainstorm alternative career paths
  • Build a powerfully written resume that aligns your particular experience and skills with job descriptions and industry standards
  • Create resume versions that optimize your accomplishments in terms of specific schools or jobs
  • Learn to use your resume as interview talking points

Although effective interviewing is a skill used repeatedly throughout life, GenText® is challenged by the dynamic interpersonal conversation specific to interviewing. From college and summer internships to medical school and the executive floor ascent, interviews differ greatly depending the purpose, role, interviewer and organization. Interview mentoring establishes effective interview habits, a customized resume, strategic positioning and role-play based on specific goals. Group mentoring and speaking engagements are also available.

Skill Mastery

  • Craft a tailored powerfully written résumé and interview talking points
  • Build confidence and clarity to articulate past accomplishments
  • Converse with specificity using talking points as your guide
  • Utilize the collaborative, creative and communication skills of an ideal student or job candidate
  • Articulate experience and skills in terms of school or employer needs
  • Identify target industries and research potential employers
  • Learn to network in order to obtain interviews
  • Anticipate questions and develop answers that differentiate
  • Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking
  • Obtain feedback from mock interview questions and role plays
  • Ask questions that distinguish you
  • Gain professional etiquette awareness
  • Recover gracefully from questions that stump you

Just as conversations can be challenging to GenText®, the salary negotiation dance can be just as daunting. Understanding the rules and negotiating collaboratively can garner you the respect and compensation you seek. Hint: Always ask for more because first offers likely leave money on the table. The worst they can say is NO! The secret is that you earn more respect by risking yourself in the asking. Group mentoring and speaking engagements are also available.

Skill Mastery

  • Employ the mindset, strategies and word choice of respectful and collaborative negotiator
  • Anticipate offer and synthesize with researched competitive compensation
  • Leverage a firm job offer to increase your pay and benefits
  • Utilize your resume accomplishments to negotiate your target salary
  • Strategically develop and propose counteroffers
  • Plan, prepare, pace and manage an internal discussion to obtain a raise, increased benefits or promotion
  • Negotiate collaboratively for the salary that you deserve

Negotiation is problem solving and decision-making. It’s never too early to learn. We negotiate hourly and collaborative negotiators do it faster and build long-term relationships in the process. Collaborative Negotiation mentoring teaches today’s most highly valued communication competency using honesty, respect and integrity as touchstones. From high school to boardroom, collaborative communication is a required skill set for GenText® within today’s “race to innovate” team leadership model. Group mentoring and speaking engagements are also available.

Skill Mastery

  • Model honesty, respect and integrity in negotiated discussions
  • Shift language from judgmental to neutral
  • Enhance relationships among classmates and colleagues
  • Obtain greater support and cooperation
  • Identify and address the exact issues and crucial obstacles
  • Acknowledge and understand positions and needs toward partnership and quality work product
  • Brainstorm to create win-win solutions
  • Build strategic partnerships, essential for productivity and innovation within team and client partnerships
  • Practice and apply key skills

When two or more work together, conflict is inevitable and often personal. Clipped language over tech leads to miscommunication, making GenText® more likely to experience conflict. Change the conversation and you can change outcomes, profit margins and your life. Conflict management mentoring imparts dispute resolution technique and neutral language vocabulary to work in tandem and manage toward collaboration.  Group mentoring, speaking engagements and mediation also available.

Skill Mastery

  • Lead and influence teams by initiating and building trust and modeling effective neutral language skills
  • Identify and articulate the issues with specificity
  • Leverage conflict as opportunity
  • Set the stage and manage uncomfortable discussions
  • Encourage honesty by modeling non-judgmental points of view
  • Learn the art of respectful confrontation
  • Obtain agreement toward organizational objectives
  • Confront individual interpersonal challenges
